Vintage shopping in Los Gatos

A collection of (almost) everything I bought today... while avoiding my applications and writing duties.

I absolutely HAD to buy these pins because my grandmother was a stewardess and my grandfather was a pilot for PanAm (which would be how they met) and it was just too serendipitous.

A signed Navy document of honorable discharge in 1940. Considering I'm a sucker for all things history I had to get it. Just be glad I didn't raid all the military maps.

A colored etching of Santa Maria della Salute in Venice for my mother. She collects (and has about a dozen or so) of these etchings from the various places we've visited.

My excuse was that it was "research" for my play.

And with that, goodnight

So, I've finished emailing my letter/info to my rec people. I still have to compile the packets, but that's not too difficult. If only I could just get off my butt and do it (says the girl who's been working on this stuff since about 6 am yesterday- ignoring a break to go and see the Brubeck Quartet at Yoshi's in San Francisco). I've also revised my resume and finished 2 personal statements. So, about 4 more to go and then I'm covered in terms of varying ps'. Oh and I still have EVERYTHING else to do. I haven't written since last week, so my play is at a standstill of 75 pages. I need to finish a draft by Friday, as well as editing my short stories. And then there's the applications themselves, so you know how that is. No sleep till December 1st (though really, no sleep until the last app is in). I've decided, the day that I send in my final app I'm calling for the tattoo I've been wanting for the longest time. White ink and "Look Closer" in moving typewriter script (Yes, as in from this movie)

One thing I've definitely learned so far in the game is that I will judge you and your website if it's total shit. SF State, Brooklyn College, I'm looking at you. You'd think that a Creative Writing or Playwriting program's site would be both engaging and functional, but no that's too much to ask. Hunter College, however, has jumped up on my list. Their CW website is just so personable that I want to befriend it, go to coffee and talk about the weather and Lindsay Lohan.

Tonight, I need to:
* finish the hard copy packets
* revise both statements
* Request transcripts form Santa Clara University
* Send GRE scores to the various schools.

5 Things...

1. stockings

stockingirl
asos
sockdreams
gap

My absolute favorite are above the knee, knit stockings. I wish it were easier to find them here, but luckily soon I'll be in New York and be able to by stockings galore.

2. tattoos

Constellations

3. Yoshi's!

look at those stellar drawing skills (that's the main floor and the stage, btw. Yes, I know, the clarity is astounding)

4. And by default bc I saw them last night (the former not the latter), The Brubeck Quartet and Dave Brubeck himself (who, I've just been informed by Chris Brubeck no less, will be getting a Kennedy Center Honor!
Then:

and now:

5.Cabaret

Only my absolute favorite movie musical adaptations. (And keep it on the dl, but the entire thing is on youtube)
